How Temporary Phone Numbers Work for SMS Verification

A temporary phone number is designed for a short verification session. Instead of using your personal number, you choose a service and country, check the current availability, and receive SMS messages while the number remains active.

The basic flow

  1. Choose the service you need to verify and a supported country.
  2. Review the availability indicator, credit quote, and reservation deadline.
  3. Confirm the reservation when the details are right for you.
  4. Use the number on the destination service and keep the SMSCode verification screen open.
  5. Read the incoming message and enter the complete code in the destination service.

The number is shown after the reservation is successfully claimed. The available list is a guide; the reservation check is the final availability test.

Why availability can change

Phone-number inventory depends on the selected service, country, provider stock, and destination-service acceptance. A country can appear available and change before a reservation completes. SMS delivery can also vary by provider and destination service.

What temporary numbers are not for

Temporary numbers are not a replacement for a long-term personal number. Do not use them for account recovery, financial activity, permanent accounts, or any service that prohibits virtual-number verification. Use SMSCode only for lawful, legitimate verification purposes.
